Purity is the Force!

Since food is so central to everyone’s life, it is only natural that it is among the most effective mediums to initiate a change in consciousness. When a person is living consciously, they will do so in all their thoughts and actions. Their lives will be consistent and in harmony with their environment. And, living consciously begins with conscious eating. The adage “you are what you eat,” has never been more true than in the United States. As Americans struggle with poor health and obesity, our national consciousness exudes an air of both arrogance and apathy.
Food is the most basic necessity of life. Its purpose is to nourish the body, mind, and soul. Food should, therefore, give life and cleanse the body and uplift the spirit. Our organization, Food for Life of N.O. and the Gulf Coast, is based upon India’s Vedic tradition. This tradition says that food that is old, decomposed, and consisting of dead flesh will pollute the body and consciousness. Food that is fresh, alive, and nutritious will, on the other hand, enrich the body, cleanse the mind, and satisfy the soul. Such foods include fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and grains.

Welcome!  Food For Life is dedicated to providing food relief and aid to those less fortunate. Established in the heart of New Orleans in 1969 FFL has aided the homeless, underprivileged and disaster victims for over 40 years. Many of those we've helped were able to get back on their feet and start their lives anew.  Food for Life has distributed over a million meals to the residents of  New Orleans and the Gulf Coast over the last 10 years. They operate from two locations: in New Orleans from where they have given assistance to various local shelters, schools and disaster relief programs as well as provided ongoing help to the victims of Katrina, and in rural Southeast Miss. where they launch their meals on wheels to the Coastal populace. Any groups interested in becoming a recipient of Food For Life's charitable distributions can contact them for enrollment in their programs.

        Training Center

Food for Life has recently added SFTC as a new affiliate. SFTC is an acronym meaning the Small Farm Training Center. Located 60 miles northeast in rural MS its goal is to reach people with the message of how small scale farming and gardening practices as well as cow protection can enhance the quality of life. Over the past few years, interest in organic agriculture and dairy has increased dramatically throughout America. Understandably so, as this period has seen an alarming increase in heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes and childhood obesity. SFTC now produces organic produce and cruelty free milk products for free distribution throughout the FFL charitable network. Visit the SFTC website at www. farmeducation.org
